Like Joe said, I'd stick with a ST tire. ST tire stands for "Special Trailer", not "Strictly Trailer", btw.
Like he said, they're built to be much stiffer in the sidewall. They're also built "less strong" around the tread as they're not used for traction and steering. Finally, their rubber is made of a compound that has additional "stuff" to help combat UV and other effects from just sitting around baking in the sun on the days you don't use your rig. Keep in common it's relatively common to run LT tires (and not ST) on heavier trailers. Typically when someone is running a load range E tire on let's say a typical 30' fiver they're LT tires. They can only do this because a E range carries much more weight than a D range and you can get away with it if you're not running the tire at it's max weight. I think the general rule of thumb is you have to reduce the maximum capability of the tire by like 10-15% if you're planning on rolling on LT's. I'd go with Mike on his recommendation. I too have purchased and used certs on dozens of tires from Discount and not only do they have great prices, but there's no questions asked. In fact Charlie's brother Emery who manages a Discount will probably tell you that I single handedly caused Carlisle to redesign their load range D tire as I was trading them in on a bi-weekly basis at one point. Lots of good points made here. I too recommend Discount because of the Certs.

Ive been dragging my feet on this. Did more price price shopping, but havent made a trailer tire purchase yet so I appreciate the additional recent feedback, it helps set the direction for me.
Discount Tire isnt my favorite place due to some past situations, and by nature extended warranties of almost anything is a rip-off, but if the trailer tires go bad that often, then I guess this time it may be worth giving Discount another shot. thanks again.
