Default Oil Pressure

I've noticed my 97 TJ's oil pressure fluctuates on the freeway (65mph)..... 20 to 40 on the gage and around 10-40 at idle.....this is my first TJ but my 4.0 XJ never fluctuated that much...... is this normal????..... oil level is dead on..... thanx in advance for any info.....

~10psi for ever ~1000 rpm is normal.

My XJ 4.0 was doing something like that, Put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it to test if it was the engine or the gauge. Pressures were steady with it. Replaced the sender and all is well again.
